TOPIC: People still value arts (musicians, painters, writers) despite improvements in science and technology. Do you think arts are as important as science and technology?

Thanks to the blooming science and technology, human beings are now experiencing modern facilities that help them to enjoy a better life. Some people argue that arts, therefore, play less important role in comparison with science and technology. However, this is not always true because in my opinion, arts still stand on the same significant position.

To begin with, it is undoubtedly that science and technology cannot replace arts in human’s spiritual life. Technological productions may help to reduce man power and provide a comfortable life but they absolutely are incapable of creating meaningful moments and bringing information . An air-conditioner, for instance, can cool down the temperature when it is hot, yet it cannot relax people as a song does once they are stressful. Similarly, although a washing machine saves a lot of time and energy for human beings, it provides no knowledge and story about things about life as a novelty does . Those examples once again confirm the irreplaceable role of arts in human life.

Secondly, it is surprised that arts do have some contribution to the development of science and technology. Indeed, what a painting presents may be seen differently depending on the imagination of the audience. In other words, paintings assist people to build up their mind, thoughts and creativeness which, of course, are essential to develop science . Likewise, the increasing demand of entertaining music has promoted technology in an excellent way. Initially, music could just be heard by live performance, and then radio was invented to broadcast songs widely. Now, as we all know, there are many types of recordings that have brought high quality music to audience worldwide.

In conclusion, despite that science and technology have made our life great, arts still are similarly important. Not only does it enrich human spiritual life, art also advances the development of science and technology.
